The Three Rivers Community Playground now has a new rock retaining wall that was funded by another grant from First 5 Commission of Tulare County. Also included in the grant will be a new landscaping plan, to be implemented in the fall.
Thanks to First 5 and Janet Hogan for the funding to make this project possible. Thanks also to CSD Playground Subcommittee members Elizabeth van Mantgem, Amy Dolcourt-McElroy, and Maria Howell for all their hard work in making this playground the success it has become today.

Board approves new kids' playground in Three Rivers

The Tulare County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved leasing out a sliver of land in Three Rivers to be used for a children's playground.
The county agreed to lease the land at $1 a year to the Three Rivers Community Services District.
"We enthusiastically support it," said Tom Sparks, district board member.
The community district teamed up with local residents and applied for a grant of $54,000 from the county First Five Commission to purchase playground equipment and construct a playground for children up to age 5. The property is next to the Three Rivers branch of the Tulare County library. Three Rivers Elementary School is next door.
The residents then formed a subcommittee to administer a children's playground and program to promote physical and social growth of pre-kindergarten-age children with weekly activities for children and their guardians.
The program will be held seasonally from February through July, merging into the seven-week Tulare County Summer Reading Program in July.
Construction is scheduled to begin in August, and the playground is expected to open in late November.
